Observation details
continuing, Anna's hummingbird these calls were recorded off and on from between 7-8 AM. Spectrogram is very short with the call showing almost vertical line in spectrogram. No downward slope as in Rufous. Rufous calls also extend to lower than 4 kHz. This bird never got that low. Rufous also tends to have more rapid staccato repetition, whereas Anna's is more widely spaced with occasional double notes as in this bird. Savannah and Junco give similar calls, but have different frequencies, so can be ruled out. In any case, does not sound like Savannah or Junco. The microphone sits on top of a flower garden (with Turk's cap) by the Holistic Garden at OConnor Field. The calls are undoubtedly that of a hummingbird, but does not appear to be Rufous (or Allen's). Calls after analysis look and sound like Anna's Hummingbird. It appears that this bird has been present since Nov 23. Birdnet was unable to ID several of the calls although it ID'd one recording as a possible Anna's. Merlin, however, has ID'd all recordings from Nov 23 to Dec 3 as Anna's
