Observation details
** Very Rare** found and reported late this afternoon by Sarah Bacon and Aaron Smith. I saw their report while heading back home, close to Sanborn. Did the math on time , distance and daylight and decided the Chase was on. Mind you I took tomorrows weather forecast into account as well. Spotted just to the east of eastern jetty a mere 100 yards from shore. Elegant diver dark gray backed contrasting nicely with white underside. Long thin necked which was black along the nape to black crown which dropped below eye level and stopped at base of its distinct thin yellow bill. Face below eye and throat to breast brilliant white. This individual seemed content to dive within the pier/shoreline coming even closer for me and AG to appreciate. Great find by Sarah and Aaron?? State Bird!! Photos TBA. Note hopefully this beaut will stick until the morning for others to see. Caution to the impending forecast!!
