Observation details
Continuing bird found by Chet McGaugh a few days ago. It was in the exact spot he described, under the line of willows and cottonwoods edging the northwest corner of Mystic Lake. On the road from D2, as you approach the lake, head straight for the lake rather than turn right toward Mystic 3. The bird was the size of a Lincoln's Sparrow, with rufous wings, flanks and tail. The back and greater coverts had thick black streaks. The underparts were cream-colored, overlain on the breast with short, blurry gray/brown streaking. The face and nape were gray, with dark brown auriculars and broad eyeline above which was a broad gray supercilium.
