Observation details
Just beyond the confluence I observed this bird for several minutes in a tree just above the creek. It allowed me to get very close & didn't leave the tree. On the way back 2hrs later the bird was in the same exact spot. I knew something was up. A quick investigation led me to a spiked baby bird. The Shrike stayed within eye distance, I took quick video & backed up allowing the bird to come back. I watched as it ate the heart and pulled intestines to full delight. Attempting to get clear video I moved around and closer... that's when it ripped the chicks head off and flew like 50ft away.
