Observation details
Very excellent find by the Kent/Auburn CBC crew! I was home and arrived <15 minutes after Charlie’s RBA post - the puffin was still floating on the water north of the park, drifting north. Its large puffin bill was very deep and at times the orange coloration was apparent (depending on lighting and the angle of the bird). It continued drifting north and just before noon I relocated to the southernmost end of the Des Moines Marina where I had much better views. Photos here are stills from digiscope videos (better one on Des Moines Marina checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S158152302). Probably a continuing bird observed recently at Point Defiance.
