Observation details
Heard first, it was calling repeatedly-mournful descending whistle reminding me of Eastern Pewee but not as loud and clear. Similar to Ash-throated Flycatcher but obviously smaller. Tail brown rather than rufous above and below with only a pale rufous tint. Belly lemon yellow, chest and throat gray. Head gray/brown, contrasting with brown back and gray throat. Bill fairly long and wide, pale at base, otherwise black. No eyering. Pale wingbars, rufous color in wings (upper primaries and secondaries). Due south of the restrooms in cottonwoods near creek, occasionally chased by Vermilion Flycatchers. Most of my pics suffer from poor lighting conditions. Recorded. Removed Flickr links and replaced with photos (some additional) 6/17/17
