Observation details
About 40 birds float at the mouth of Powers Creek and keep dipping their heads in the water. Along the shore I’d been seeing burbling of a small fish, probably herring or smelt. I also noticed that the water was full of a fry sized fish, but wasn’t a salmon fry: very translucent and their heads have delicate protuberances. These are possibly what the gulls were eating since I didn’t see them come up with anything bigger.
