Observation details
Weird bird, probably either cismontanus or ORJU x DEJU. Clearly defined hood, warm brown back, gray brown flanks. Edit 12/31: After reviewing pictures of cismontanus, looks like a good match with the clearly defined hood, brown back, and grayish brown flanks. Poor photos tba. Note that junco subspecies are difficult to ID and there is a chance this bird is an intergrade of ORJU and SCJU or some other weird thing, but cismontanus was the best fit when looking through photos and comparing them to this bird. Edit 1/6: Saw a bird that was good for ORJU in the same general area, so this may have been the same bird...Not confident enough in my ID now.
