Observation details
A slightly frustrating encounter. After initially hearing one of the Phainopeplas, Alex and I maneuvered around the big toyon at 33.895437, -117.897804 to try to photograph what we though was the phainopepla foraging at the back end of the bush. The bird seemed to flush away, and upon review of the photos, I found that this bird had an orange eye as opposed to a dark eye. That left basically either Sage Thrasher or Northern Mockingbird.
