Observation details
Not sure about the ID of this bird, but leaning towards CHRA. Open to feedback on ID. Flew in from the SW, circled briefly over the end of the road at 32.564218,-104.397732, and then headed west to the hills. Overall, the call (which sounded like "caak, caak", see audio below) appears to not be deep enough for CORA. In addition, CHRA is also more expected at this location than CORA (though still uncommon). The plumage details also fit CHRA (somewhat short wings, pointed wedge-shaped tail). Initially, I had thought that the pointed wedge-shaped tail was a feature only CORA have, but after reviewing photos in the Macaulay Library (such as https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/270287261 and https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/114462261), it appears that CHRA can also show this.
