Observation details
Just so enchanting to see and hear them. Cellphone video and audio to follow. The morning was unrelentingly bleak. Not so much as an iota of color in the sky. The little gray birds were feeding in a sorry-looking leafless planted tree. (Note to self: figure out what that that tree is, I've seen them there before!) Many were actually picking at the trunk larger branches. Bugs there? Some cellphone media: : The ringing, high, shrill "ding-a-ling" vocalizations. Pretty strong high-pass filter on both of these given (a) the road noise and (b) recording gear (just an old, seriously abused cellphone). 2.0kHz high-pass filter, 6dB rolloff. : Mostly the sharp "spk!" notes. And a car horn. :-) : simple video of the flock. Note the old magpie nest. Road noise, sorry, but it is what it is.
