Observation details
I arrived at about 7:20 and had the area in front of the naturalist house covered. Was hoping the bird would come in just after 8, as it has been doing. However, that was not so. Just before 9, I heard a high-pitched call in the thicket behind the compost area behind the naturalist cottage. I walked over there, and the bird briefly popped up, landed in a tree, gave a few vocalizations and then ducked back down into the brush. I was able to get a couple pictures of somewhat decent quality which I will attach this evening. The bird sang a couple of times, and it did sound like Pacific slope to me, as others have noted. I may have a recording of the chip note, but unfortunately, it stopped singing the two noted song by the time I started the recording.
