Observation details
At dusk, moments after leaving the bird blind, just happened to catch sight of a largish bird, partially obscured by intervening mesquite and other vegetation, land on a mostly bare oak in the distance. Pleasantly surprised to see it's a Great Horned Owl. Sitting atop a very large Post Oak right along the trail that heads to the parking area for the bird blind/Wildlife Viewing Station. Ended up having to walk right by it on way back to car, and the owl never flew, so ended being a real "photo op".
