Media notes
Again, taken after it had finished eating. Seen here preening, with a partially flushed face; it was certainly aware of my presence. Note the fine barring on the belly and thighs. Strangely, this image captures it resting on its left knee with its left foot clenched out in front of it, and its eye partially closed.
Observation details
Alighted on a jakaranda branch with a small kill, still with a flushed face. It perched and ate for several minutes, its face drained back to yellow. Carried its kill to another branch, then returned after a couple of minutes. A few minutes after I submitted the checklist I went to get closer, where I discovered its kill had been some kind of white-and-rufous bird, and it was finished eating and spent considerable time preening. A silent, solitary bare-faced go-away bird was in the same tree a few branches beneath it.
