Observation details
Long-staying 1cy female still in hedge alongside beach. Barely showed in first hour, with one fleeting glimpse as it moved between pittosporum bushes, but eventually gave itself up well around noon and again subsequently. Rather drab and nondescript until seen well, when e.g. distinct yellowy-green rump, faint lemon/yellow markings on neck sides, throat and breast, double white wing-bar (more prominent but shorter on median coverts) and finely streaked flanks all noted. White visible in tail sides but exact pattern hard to determine in field views. Mostly kept within dense cover in lower levels of bushes, perhaps because of very strong and cold NW wind, but when weather brighter it became more active and obvious, occasionally dropping onto rocks on beach or hopping among succulents in search of invertebrates, and several times even flycatching.
