Observation details
Bay-breasted Warbler, first identified yesterday and present from perhaps as early as 12/23. Plump looking warbler that foraged with a swagger and some tail pumping. Visiting the yard of Bud and Deb’s Bird Haven in Portal, Arizona. This bird made many attempts to visit a suet feeder and was relentlessly chased off by a Yellow-rumped Warbler as well as a few other species. It did make it in to feed on a couple of occasions. Also seen foraging in a few trees in the yard and across the lane as well. It gave vocalizations including both chip notes and flight notes (chip notes recorded). The bird’s physical appearance evident from the photos. A really cool bird and a state bird for me!
