Observation details
I saw it at 10:47am perched above my backyard bird feeders. This is now the 12th day that the bird has been present in my yard. I'm going to do my best to keep it alive all winter by offering it dried, frozen currants and dried mealworms on a flat platform up in a tree, but also sprinkled on the ground under the bird's favourite places to perch. If anyone has any advice as to what's best to feed an overwintering Brown Thrasher, and how best to feed it... I'm all ears: ben-welland@myself.com The bird is often seen in a bush on the side of the road. It likes hanging out there and periodically flying over to feed on the frozen grapes on the grapevine that's climbing the northwest corner of my house, making it very easy to find. We've had 11 (or maybe more) birders come to photograph the bird, and given that the bird's location is quite predictable, we encourage any and all who are keen to come and photograph it to come out. You're welcome to stand in our driveway or follow the bird into our backyard if you like. No worries. We're the house at 551 Hilson Ave. The bush it likes perching in is on the east side of Hilson Avenue, just north of the green electrical box, precisely here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/FN87VNpGa7eMAaWt5
