Observation details
Photos. LTDU found in lock area eating while weaving back and forth through the pilings. It was picking some kind of winged? insect off the walls of the pilings. There were a lot of insects on the barnacle and oyster encrusted seawalls/pilings Continuing bird spotted several days back. LTDU source ID from Crossley Guide to Eastern Birds p. 72 "smallish with thick neck but small head and bill. "very dainty but elegant appearance" This one appeared to have a transitional pattern; kind of a smudgy look . .
