Observation details
Found by Dan Vickers along fire break at the terminus of blockaded portion of engineer’s road (west on fire break from lost/very lost sign) . Uncooperative once we returned with cameras, but close, open views for all 5 of us when no cameras were present due to previous rain. Bad phone video available with a quiet vocalization. Myiarchus flycatcher foraging below waist height in palmetto scrub. Very pale yellow below, pale gray throat, relatively small bill compared to GCFL/BRCF, but prominent rufous in wings and tail, dull (relative to a GCFL) pale edges to tertials. Recording taken from the video (at 1 second, just before the bird first flies) isn't great, but it is diagnostic in the spectrograph as the common contact call given by vagrant winter ATFLs in the east based on an eBird media search for December ATFL sounds and compared to December Nutting's, La Sagra's, GCFL, or BCFL vocalizations.
