Observation details
Continuing from earlier in the week. First found by Margaret and Roger Higbee. Likely four individuals though I couldn't confirm. I saw two males and a female. Thought a possible second female was present, but my view was too fleeting. The bird in question never did come back up out of the grass. Superficially, a rangy looking cross between a house sparrow and an eastern meadowlark. Broad chested and short tailed with heavy, conical bill. Gray-head highlighted by yellow supercilium and moustachial patch and yellow breast with black necklace. Reddish brown upperparts.
