A Tawny-bellied Screech-Owl sings pre-dawn near our cabin (Matapalo) and is answered by a second bird in the distance. Background includes: Common Pauraque, a distant Razor-billed Curassow, Gray-cowled Wood-Rail, Bartlett’s Tinamou doing long dawn song, & Amazonian Pygmy-Owl. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola.
Observation details
unclear what is going on, but medium fast song from several 0400 to 0450 hours, after another bird giving slow song around 2300 to 0030 hours while others gave medium; recorded
