Observation details
2 adult & 1 imm males & 9 females. In the inner bay of the estuary - females within 30’. Large dark brown female sea duck with darker crown cap, paler brown down cheek and neck, two white spots - one at base of bill and one in auricular. Huge sloping and unfeathered bill and a short dark brown stiff tail sticking up. Males black with large vertical oval white patches on nape and large sloping unfeathered orange and white bill with a blue spot in the white. White yellow eye and red legs. A bird we see regularly in Puget Sound, WA.
