Observation details
First winter Dickcissel flew in with about 20 House Sparrows and fed on ground under feeders. Compared to them, it has a slimmer profile with longer wings and tail and a chunkier pink bill. Buffy below with fine dark streaks across breast and down flanks, and upper breast is washed with yellow. Noticeable are rusty-edged wing coverts. White eye ring. Yellow wash in eye stripe and malar stripe, which is edged with a narrow black line. Very pointed tail feathers noted when it perched in a bush.
