Observation details
Continuing birds feeding from perches along T-Dikes from Gate 130 to the levee on west side of Mounds 3. One male and one female, as well as a 1rst year bird. Male is a distinctive bird. Orange-red face, cap, throat, chest, and belly contrasts vividly against gray nape, mantle, and a gray mask across its eyes, nape and mantle. It has black wings with white wing bars and a tail with white edging. The body is stubby with a short stout beak. The female is light gray above and white ventrally with slight stripping on its chest. Its undertail coverts display a pink wash. The first-year bird differs from the female by having a yellow wash under the tail.
