Male Barrow's x Common goldeneye (right) with male Common Goldeneye (center) and male Barrow's Goldeneye (left) - note the hybrid's Common-like head shape, circular facial spot (but with tapered top edge), and intermediate scapular pattern.
Observation details
One male Barrow's x Common goldeneye - present since 25 November 2023. The bird had a white circle on the face (though the circle had a little extension at the top), a Common Goldeneye-like head shape, peaked above the eye, and an intermediate pattern of black-and-white on the scapulars, too much black for typical Common Goldeneye.
