Observation details
Adult initially seen foraging on shallow vegetation across the lake but it eventually made its way to the center of the lake and slept for awhile. Lighting/distance at this place is always difficult mid day but was able to see enough and get some pics to support ID. Eye always appeared isolated from facial skin, never seeming encompassed. Bill/skin area between the eyes lacked a pronounced V shape and instead was relatively straight. Was never to see yellow near the eye in the field but conditions and distance weren't ideal for that. Head was round. Size was hard to judge on a solo swan but for what it’s worth it did seem smaller bodied, wasn’t completely dwarfing nearby waterfowl. Pics
