Observation details
I have never seen such a large single flock of feral pigeons. Even at grain elevators or train yards I have only seen flocks of up to a few hundred. From a distance, I first thought they were ducks in a field. I guessed around a thousand, but when i got home and photo-counted what I estimated to be 90% of them, 1400! Added @10% for those not in the photo. I tried to scope them in hopes of picking out some other species (like maybe a band-tailed pigeon) but just too much movement, poor light, and frequent flight made it impossible.
