Observation details
Sometimes called White-bellied Fish-Eagle, White-breasted Fish Eagle, or White-breasted Sea Eagle; this photo was taken from a boat. This majestic raptor mostly inhabits coastal areas but ranges inland where there are large lakes. It is still reasonably common but appears to be declining in parts of its range in Australia and Thailand. A primary cause of these declines is thought to be human disturbance. Formerly included in the genus "Haliaeetus."
