Observation details
There were several little brown birds flitting about in the nearby shrubs that I had trouble capturing on camera or identifying before they moved to a new location. Then, much further away, I noticed this bird on the trunk of a tree. Its behavior was very different from the others. First, it was on a tree trunk instead of in the brush. Second, its movements reminded me of the way a nuthatch moves, but the coloring was wrong for that. It was so far away that I couldn't tell what it was through the lens and had to wait until I was able to zoom in on my computer to get a better look.
