Observation details
A little known species with a restricted range. It is endemic to the small island of Kofiau, a coral islet in the Raja Ampat Archipelago. This spectacular long-tailed woodland kingfisher is listed as "threatened" by IUCN with a total population estimated at no more than 1000. Also known as Elliot's Paradise-kingfisher or Elliot's Racquet-tail. Sometimes lumped with more widespread Common Paradise-Kingfisher (T. galatea) from which distinguished by its almost all white tail.
