Observation details
Photographed. Was making the "plaintive weer call.. no rufous color under tail. Took recordings, but they came out pretty faint. Bird's call was distinct. I checked other common flycatchers in the area including an Ash-throated but the only match was the Dusky-capped Flycatcher. The bird had a white/light colored throat extending down to the stomach. The bird's stomach/lower chest was bright yellow. A small crest was apparent along with a dark brown cap that extended down underneath the eye. No eye ring. The underside of the tail was an even dark brown. We have a photo that shows a rufous coloration to the edging of the secondary. Photo and audio included.
