NOTES: Weather: WIND; WING SOUNDS OF MALE AND FEMALE (PROBABLY ALWAYS THE SAME 2 BIRDS), AS WELL AS CALL NOTES OF MALE. FEMALE NEVER CALLED ON THESE RECORDINGS TO MY KNOWLEDGE. TO INDUCE THE MALE TO CALL IT WAS NECESSARY TO BE WITHIN A FEW YARDS OF THE FEEDER. CALL IS DIRECTED AT THE PERSON AS A SORT OF ALARM OR THREAT (THE BIRDS WOULD EXPLORE MY EARS AND EYES, SO I WONDERABOUT THE ALARM) CHASES WERE FREQUENT, ONE BIRD NOT TOLERATING THE OTHER AT THE FEEDER. I THINK EITHER BIRD WOULD BE THE AGGRESSOR ON OCCASION, BUT I AM NOT CERTAIN. RECORDED 24JUL62 AT 10:30, 13:30, AND 15:00; 25JUL62 AT 09:15. Habitat: Suburban, Yard.
