Observation details
Smaller and yellower than similar Arctic Warbler, this species is resident on a number of islands. Note the contrasting gray face and crown which helps distinguish this species. Numerous subspecies recognized some of which may qualify as full species pending further research. This one is the race "P. p. ceramensis" endemic to Seram Island. It is characterized by its dark gray crown, olive median stripe, whitish chin and throat, bright yellow underparts and olive flanks. Populations on two northern New Guinea Islands have been split as separate species, Numfor Leaf Warbler and Biak Leaf Warbler.
