Media notes
An Amazonian Pygmy-Owl responds to playback, attracting a number of mobbing birds. These two cuts were 5 minutes apart—of the same individual owl. Background of first cut includes: a scolding passerine that sounds to me like a Dwarf Tyrant-Manakin (unseen), White-necked Puffbird, Yellow-tufted Woodpecker. Additional species in 2nd cut include: White-bellied Parrots, Plumbeous Pigeon, & Yellow-green Vireo scolding. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola.
