Long, sad keen
Observation details
First alerted by super sad drawn-out calls that made me want to cry. Slender myiarchus with comically large head and bill. Intently and very actively flycatching along the trail, loosely moving with the mixed warbler/kinglet/Verdin flock. (33.3675432, -114.6768765). Sometimes it would sally from a snag, other times be deep in the cottonwoods. Separated from other Myiarchus members by very clear voice. I kept hoping it would eat all the blood-sucking mosquitoes that were trying to kill me. Dark crown with paler back, and often but not always showing a crest.
