Observation details
Brilliant find by Michele Carnerie. It ate sunflower seeds on the feeder for about 15-20 minutes non stop, then dropped down to the grass where it continued feeding for about another 20-25 minutes. Overall brown body with a pink hue on the belly and flanks. Dark crown with grey on head from the eye around back of head to the other eye, grey more restricted in this nominate subspecies. Grey greater coverts with a touch of pink. Yellow bill. We noted its white feathered upper legs typical of a tough alpine bird.
