Observation details
*edited 11/22/23 - Had accidentally left the 1 count that automatically appears in box for "Add Species" species. 3 is the correct number.* Seen at separate spots along the route - one was at outflow slough directly across from north end of Duck Lake, one was on Cowpen Bayou approx. 0.3 miles north of fishing pier, and one was directly across Cowpen Bayou from pier. Medium sized wading bird with shiny brown plumage, white streaks and spots becoming dense on neck and head so that those parts look almost whitish; long slightly down curved bill that is orange at base and gray or blackish at tip. One across road from lake found mussel and hammered on it with bill then extracted meat. Photos of each individual Limpkin.
