Media notes

Courtship territory song in response to my hooting. Light rain can be heard in the recording. Five sets; second set ends abruptly with a short upward note. Hairy Woodpecker making several single-note calls.

Observation details

Barred Owl responded to my BADO hooting by flying in and calling for most of the walk. The BADO have nested near the nature center for the last few years, often in a nest box near this Sparkleberry Trail.

Additional species

  • Hairy Woodpecker Leuconotopicus villosus
