Observation details
Initially spotted by Daniel and I and noted for it's noticeably larger bill and white spot in front of the eye, but decided in the field that the bil wasn't quite pronounced enough for a Clark's and marked it as an odd Western. Upon reviewing photos and clearly seeing the individual bird side-by-side with the other WEGR however it became clear the bird wasn't a pure WEGR. White patch in front of eye, dark-orange bill set aside from pure WEGR and as later noted by Nathan Hentze dark body and neck and head shape seperate from a pure CLGR. First record on eBird for a CLGR x WEGR but doubtless not the first time in the area. Possibly records not on eBird from back when thousands of WEGR frequented the island, would be super curious to hear from birders who were active then if they have or know of records.
