Observation details
Complete eye rings, weak or absent malar streak, contrasty streaking on backs but overall lacking in contrast in face or elsewhere, bland light gray/brown overall appearance with light gray heads and light gray/brown uppers, with tail often cocked up while flicking tail up and down and vocalization identified by Merlin as Sagebrush: All these features distinguish these birds from Bell's sparrows. Note I used Merlin sound ID three times and each time it identified only one bird, Sagebrush Sparrow, never Bell's or any other bird for that matter. I listed three but there were probably ten or more viewed from a distance, which I could not positively identify as Sagebrush.
