Observation details
Further discussion needed. Bird looks very good for a 1st Winter Thayer’s. Stand out among the group for having no contrast in plumage with gray-brown head and chest. Scapulars had a scaly gray-brown look with lighter edges. Wings we’re darker than body, but it was difficult to determine whether or not there was tan too them or if was just black. Bird did flap for me once which suggested lighter primaries than black, but it was hard to judge. Further supporting Thayer’s ( but no ID clinching) was a bill that was clearly smaller, daintier than nearby Herring. Same goes with the head of the bird, which had a smaller more rounded look. Pics to be posted.
