Observation details
*Flagged for rare* What a ride. Was tracking a HETH around the community garden when I heard a chip note I didn’t recognize. Located a small gray warbler at the top of a tomato plant. Unfortunately, at that moment, a massive truck showed up and a few people began loading metal fencing, and someone else went into the garden to work that exact plot. My bird took off towards the maintenance yard with a second bird. Awhile later, I was able to locate both birds together in another tomato plant on the north end of the garden. Description for both birds: warbler-sized, gray head and back, with broken eye ring. Paler gray on front with light streaking. Some yellow wash along front and sides. Bright yellow undertail coverts (brighter than wash on front). One bird chipping intermittently, other bird silent. Recording of chip note + photo(s). Camera died after 2 photos, planning to return to get a few more:
