Observation details
I was still attempting to sleep, but couldn't help but notice the dawn chorus kicking into gear. The WEKIs and GHOW began and others starting joining in. I kept detecting a somewhat distant and regular "dzrt dzrt dzrt" and couldn't make that species align with anything expected. It continued and I began to think DICK. I crawled out of bed and headed out to see what was making this persistent call. Sure enough, what has to be the dumbest Dickcissel in the state was traversing about this small sage flat singing his little heart out. This in an area bounded by a big river, PJ habitat and a Cottonwood gallery.
