Observation details
Originally planned to stop by Sands for a brief look to see if there were any scoters about. As I drove into the lower west lot, a very small, very dark bird flew across the road in front of my vehicle. It looked interesting and I immediately thought of stub-tailed wren. I got out of the truck and pished quietly and a small very dark stub-tailed wren with a buffy super popped up and began scolding me with that machine-gun rate chatter. I grabbed a couple of lousy pix and set about to be patient. Eventually the bird popped up onto a branch allowing me to secure some good pictures. While in the midst of taking those pictures with the camera shutter pressed down, a BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER photo-bombed the wren. I was gobsmacked. I detected no scoters. ;-)
