Observation details
Photographed. The first group of 22 appeared at 10:20 a.m, last seen at 10:37. Another group of — I’m gonna say — 11 birds passed high overhead at 11:35 a.m. Two more flocks of ~8 apiece were seen at 11:47, but the first flock was mixed in with RBGUs and was difficult to count. I first picked up on these birds when a FRGU flew through my scope while I was glassing a distant Buteo. A mix of adults and first-cycle birds. All were high-fliers. Flocks stopped to swirl before heading over the bridge and looked to be actively foraging on the wing, presumably catching aerial insects.
