Media notes
Ignore the Reed Warblers. The call to focus on here is the zet zet zet zet call. I believe there is a good match to the call in this video: https://vimeo.com/198950798.
Observation details
Entry added 24 hours after completing list: This one is a nice added bonus to my weekend. I first heard the bird and had no idea what it was and made a recording. I then saw the bird I didn't know what I was looking at but my guess was a Tawny Grassbird, but I didn't get the sense of a long tail I've been told to look for, I didn't know if they where even possible in the area, and I've never seen one so I didn't have any idea if my guess was valid, so I did not log the bird. Getting home and listening to the recording, and reviewing my guide books, I am happy with this identification. Then I saw Jim and Allen, who I met on my trip, also logged Tawny Grassbird here. Dark reddish-brown (more brown) bird with a very rufous-brown cap. Dark streaking. No streaking on crown. Lighter under parts. Bill seemed more robust than Reed Warbler or Little Grassbird. The bird seemed bigger than a Little Grassbird, and I actually thought bigger than a Reed Warbler, though from my books it seems the Reed Warbler is bigger. Recording did not match anything in Merlin (one reason I didn't log at the time). There is a similar recording in PK Birds, but a different speed/tempo that I listened to once home and thought perhaps it was close. This recording is a very good match: https://vimeo.com/198950798
