Observation details
Originally thought to be one of the herring gulls but on review of photos is a lesser black backed. All dark bill, with less of a hook than the herring gulls. Lightish head with dark smudge around the eye. Lacks the pink smudging at the base of the bill that would be seen on a herring gull of this age.
