Observation details
Spotted a dark bird as I was watching for kittiwakes. Jaeger was immediately obvious because of dark upper parts, white belly and collar, and dark cap. White flash on the underwing and white above on the primaries was more obvious in bins but doesn’t come through much in photos. Flight was powerful and direct. Wingbeats very steady and a bit lazy, not at all snappy like PAJA. The bold, dark breast band and white flash on underwing rules out LTJA. Wide wing base, bold breast band, and flight style rules out PAJA. Photos appear to show some white in the tail coverts but this seems fine for a non-breeding bird. Photos are not very detailed so I will include high-contrast versions.
