Observation details
Feedback welcome. Obvious medium gray mantle, dusky head, black primary tips stood out among multitude of Glaucous Gulls. Initially ID'd it as ssp. vegae Herring Gull based on mantle color, streaked hood, black primary tips. But the bird did not offer view of underwing, and I wasn't able to clinch the iris color due to limited time, available light, patchy fog, distance, and fact the bird slept through most of the encounter. Thus far received vote for possible "Cook Inlet" Glaucous-winged/Herring hybrid. Hope to relocate the bird in the coming days.
