Media notes
Birds seem to react to gunshots to the south (dove-hunting season).
Observation details
SG CR 347. Continuing birds found by Rich K. on 9/4. I saw the single Limpkin perched on a log downstream from the island where both Limpkins were photographed by Colin B. and Jim H. on 9/8. It quickly flew upriver (These birds are very wary-unlike the almost tame Barton Creek bird). I continued upriver and heard them calling (6th call on Merlin). I worked my way into position and saw both birds while standing on the north bank, the birds being about 20 m up in the tree on the south bank. Both were still there when I left about 12:40. I'm thinking the lighter bird may be an immature bird.
